LATXA BASQUE WOOL FABRICS
Unique, versatile and functional fabrics, deeply rooted in Basque tradition and culture.
Wool is a natural fiber with highly valuable properties: it is flame-retardant, water-repellent, lightweight, durable, antibacterial, insulating, and regulates body temperature. Wool gives us a unique opportunity: when the animal no longer needs its coat, it allows us to make use of it in multiple ways.
From this perspective was born the Latxa Basque Wool Fabrics, a project led by Basque designer María Clè Leal, aimed with the purpose of revaluing the latxa wool sheep, a native breed from the Basque Country. Despite its huge potential in eco-design, this fiber is nowadays almost entirely discarded.
This project drives a true circular economy initiative, weaving an organic network that connects all links in the value chain: from the sheep and the shepherd to the person wearing or using the fabrics. It is a commitment to the rural environment, connecting heritage with contemporary design, promoting a conscious, sustainable and meaningful consumption.
The result is unique, versatile and functional fabrics, deeply rooted in Basque tradition and culture.
For the FW25 season, one of our sneakers was created using a base fabric made from Latxa sheep wool, combined with bovine leather, developed in collaboration with Latxa Basque Wool Fabrics.
